Jimena Zuniga Latin America Geoeconomics Analyst and Argentina Economist,… Bloomberg Markets
Venezuelan oil investment faces transitional uncertainty
The transitional government under Delcy Rodríguez, despite U.S. support for stability and her familiarity with the oil industry, makes it hard to project the political and regulatory stability needed for significant broad-based investment and a pickup in Venezuela's oil industry and broader economy. U.S. pressure and an oil quarantine add uncertainty, so near-term investment in the Venezuelan oil sector is unattractive.

John Bolton Former US National Security Advisor / Ambassador Bloomberg Markets
Venezuelan oil recovery unlikely, avoid industry
Bolton argues Venezuela's oil industry is unlikely to emerge from the ashes and become a major producer again in weeks, months, or even a couple of years. He points to the Maduro regime still being in place despite Maduro's removal, an unstable political situation, damage to the opposition, and an ad hoc US approach. He also doubts major American oil companies will commit billions to Caracas given the instability and $55-60 oil, saying people are dreaming if they expect a rapid Venezuelan oil revival.

Venezuela oil recovery needs investment.
Maduro says Venezuela has the world's largest oil reserves and existing infrastructure but production has collapsed due to sanctions and lack of financing; he wants to recover output to 1.5 million bpd and eventually up to 5 million bpd, and explicitly urges US oil investors to hurry and invest and produce oil in Venezuela under the Anti-Blockade Law.
